Anger: Nature, Expression, Management
Anger can make you feel as though you’re at the mercy of an unpredictable and powerful emotion. Learn how to control it.
|
|

Dr. Santhosh Dadhambe, CMO, Vijaybhoomi University

What is anger?
Anger is “an emotional state that varies in intensity from mild irritation to intense fury and rage,” according to Charles Spielberger, PhD, a psychologist who specialises in the study of anger. Like other emotions, it is accompanied by physiological and biological changes; when you get angry, your heart rate and blood pressure go up, as do the levels of your energy hormones, adrenaline, and noradrenaline.
Expressing anger
The instinctive, natural way to express anger is to respond aggressively. Anger is a natural, adaptive response to threats; it inspires powerful, often aggressive, feelings and behaviors, which allow us to fight and to defend ourselves when we are attacked. A certain amount of anger, therefore, is necessary to our survival.
Following are some of the Steps to Identify Anger cause, expression and effective management:
- Count down: Count down (or up) to 10. If you’re really mad, start at 100. In the time it takes you to count, your heart rate will slow, and your anger will likely subside.
- Take a breather: Your breathing becomes shallower and speeds up as you grow angry. Reverse that trend (and your anger) by taking slow, deep breaths from your nose and exhaling out of your mouth for several moments.
- Go walk around: Exercise Trusted Source can help calm your nerves and reduce anger. Go for a walk, ride your bike, or hit a few golf balls. Anything that gets your limbs pumping is good for your mind and body.
- Relax your muscles: Progressive muscle relaxation calls on you to tense and slowly relax various muscle groups in your body, one at a time. As you tense and release, take slow, deliberate breaths.
- Repeat a mantra: Find a word or phrase that helps you calm down and refocus. Repeat that word again and again to yourself when you’re upset. “Relax,” “Take it easy, and “You’ll be OK” are all good examples.
- Stretch: Neck rolls and shoulder rolls are good examples of nonstrenuous yoga-like movements that can help you control your body and harness your emotions. No fancy equipment required.

Bollywood has become an integral part of Indian culture. With its flashy songs and larger than life depictions.

To celebrate this blend of color and energy, Vijaybhoomi University held a Bollywood night. The aim of this event was to relive the best of Bollywood through dance, music and acts.

The students enthusiastically attended the Bollywood night dressed in their most colorful ethnic garb. The music performances had the people on their feet, clapping and singing along with the music. The dance performances had the audience cheering and the acts had the people laughing.

It was an amazing night filled with joy and laughter and the students loved it.

Shritika Dubey, Vijaybhoomi School of Law
Sometimes it gets difficult for parents to cope up with their children’s education basically from lack of money and sources of admission in various schools or universities. Vijaybhoomi contributes a large part in supporting the girl’s education through an annual charity marathon called Kanyathon which basically helps to spread the awareness of education in remote areas where this knowledge is difficult to reach. Through this program the whole staff, faculty and students stand together to walk all the possible steps which will actually educate and empower girl child.
