Living For Others For Just Being Happy
MacKenzie Scott is a novelist and philanthropist from the United States. She is well-known for her Amazon involvement and philanthropic efforts. She has a net worth of US$37.6 billion as of November 2021, thanks to a 4% stake in Amazon.

She wrote a number of novels like - The Testing of Luther Albright, and Traps. She said that it took her 10 years to write, as she was helping Bezos build Amazon, giving birth to three children, and raising them. Since 2014, she has served as the executive director of Bystander Revolution, an anti-bullying organization she founded. As a signatory to the Giving Pledge and committed to donating at least half of her wealth to charity, Scott made US$5.8 billion in charitable gifts in 2020, one of the largest annual distributions by a private individual to working charities. In 2021, she will donate another $2.7 billion.
Scott has not only begun to keep her word, but she is doing so at an unprecedented rate and with complete control over where her money goes: Scott, who is worth $57 billion, has given $8.6 billion to 780 organizations promoting issues such as gender equity, racial justice, public health, and others in less than two years. She's done it without a physical office or even a mailing address, and with little evidence of a full-time staff. Instead, she collaborates with her husband Dan, as well as researchers and advisers from Bridgespan, a nonprofit consulting firm. She reports to no one, has no board of directors (that we are aware of), and has no reporting requirements because she does not make gifts through a charitable foundation.
She said, “A gift like this for a nonprofit is equivalent to a billion dollars." Scott said her focus over the past few months included some new areas but said her aim has been to “support the needs of underrepresented people from groups of all kinds.”

Business and Marketing trends in Covid times
While there is a lot of gloom and doom during Covid times and a lot of students and professionals have been anxious about their future, it would be worthwhile to take a look at the hard facts and business trends which would help us get over some of the anxiety around the state of business and overall economic climate.

These are indeed challenging times, but it is also a precursor of a new era of business due to the following innovations and initiatives. I expect 6 dominating trends in 2021 and beyond. They are:
Stimulus packages driving growth: US alone has been executing a second stimulus package of $1.9 trillion in 2021 following the 2020 package of a similar nature. A lot of that money is flowing into the Indian economy through financial institutions and fund managers and boosting up the stock market to an all-time high. The Indian government is also expected to announce a set of direct transfer measures to boost demand at the bottom of the pyramid and build a bottom-up demand stimulus. Top-down demand stimulus measures in terms of policy changes and incentives for corporates are also expected to be announced in forthcoming quarters by the Indian government. These measures will definitely drive economic growth.
Technology refresh backlog in Corporate and government infrastructure projects: Due to the 2020 and 2021 Covid situation, a lot of capital investments especially in the area of IT and core infrastructure areas for technology refresh have been kept on hold. Once things get back to normal, a lot of analysts are expecting that these projects will start getting kick started leading to a slew of downstream investment and job opportunities. The government is also expected to focus on key infrastructure projects which will drive both demand and job growth.
Investments in healthcare and allied services: Investment by the government in healthcare and allied services is expected to double to about 4-5 percent up from 1.6 percent currently in the next budget. This is expected to create new employment opportunities not just in hiring doctors and nurses but in allied areas like health insurance, hospital management and claims processing. Some amount of consolidation is already happening in the hospital management space with entities like Manipal taking over Columbia Asia.PPP (Public Private Partnership) in terms of expanding bed capacity along with facilities is expected to increase leading to more corporate hospitals working with state governments. Professionals in areas of marketing, HR and finance from MBA institutes will be hired to fill up these organizational gaps in addition to doctors and nurses. A lot of corporate hospitals have already started using digital marketing tools to expand their patient base and have invested in a professional sales force to drive corporate tie-ups.
Bio Research and Bio- analytics area: Both government and corporate organizations are expected to invest heavily in areas like genome sequencing and biowarfare to combat the next wave of Covid like situations. While there will definitely be requirements of trained scientists, there will also be positions created for business analysts and bio-analytics persons in these areas. Companies like Biocon are expected to hire heavily in bioanalytics and mathematical modeling areas and also sell those models through a marketing team.
Artificial Intelligence, Machine learning and quantum computing models: Both governmental and corporate entities are expected to invest hugely in these areas which would give them an edge in terms of predicting the next wave of infections in Covid and allied areas. In quantum computing, pandemic simulation and getting predictions in terms of a range rather than a date/time prediction would be a huge advantage. In fact, Bluedot an AI platform that scans hundreds and thousands of foreign-language news reports, animal and plant disease networks first detected a cluster of pneumonia-like illness in Wuhan in 2019 which alerted experts about Covid. These AI/ML models will be sold to government and corporates on a subscription basis just like Bloomberg and Morning star subscriptions are sold in the financial market. A new generation of salespeople will need to be hired who know both sales and analytics.
While everyone knows about Zoom and Teams, the next wave of investments will come in terms of building a safe and secure infrastructure at home for remote working. Secure VPN and Secure messaging systems which are businesses enabled to work remotely will drive new investments in the corporate arena. Collaborative software and remote business processes will drive the next wave of innovation and associated hiring. A mixed way of working in both virtual and physical mode will drive the next level of sales methodologies as well. Leading sales methodologies like Miller-Heiman, SPIN and Challenger have already started incorporating remote and virtual environments in their business process.

Icebreakers for new students on campus
Independence term 2022 saw an influx of students joining VijayBhoomi university. The students, mostly from True School of Music, Joined various courses but in order to help the students successfully integrate into the existing student body as well as create a bond between the new students, a multi-event icebreaker session was held.
Several ice-breaking activities like pipeline and group juggle were held in order to help the students get familiarised with each other. They helped the students relax and bond as a team and the spirit of competition made things more interesting. These games paved the way for a more comfortable communication ground for the students and helped them learn about others as well.
On another day, a hiking trip was conducted for the students to familiarise themselves with their new environment and make them witness the natural beauty of the Sahyadri range that surrounds VijayBhoomi University. The students also got to experience the great waterfalls that form around the university at this time of the year at VijayBhoomi University.

What is special about the design and architecture of Vijaybhoomi University?
|
|
|
|
Vijaybhoomi University’s campus was conceptualized and its spirit was brought to life by Mr. Alok Shetty, Principal Architect and Founder of Bhumiputra Architecture. The campus was designed on multiple axis systems, with each corridor, passageway, and window capturing views of the mountain range that serves as a backdrop to the beautiful site. This also helps create light wind tunnels that bring cross ventilation to every part of the campus, minimizing our need for air conditioning systems.
When I first visited the site in 2016, I was in awe of the sheer raw, natural beauty of the site. It was very clear from the start that whatever we propose as a design would only enhance the beauty of this nature and not try to take away from it in any form.
The design of this university mirrors the philosophy of the university itself. It is never done. It is always growing, always adapting. It is humble and acts as a canvas for nature, for learning. It is a vessel that can be filled with hopes, dreams, and ambitions of the youth that will call it home.
