The Story of Badshah Masala
Jawaharlal Jamnadas Jhaveri started selling garam masala and tea masala in 1958 in Mumbai as Badsha Masala while riding on his bicycle. Since then, the brand has been winning the hearts of its customers, yet many don't know the man behind it, which is Hemant Jhaveri. Hemant Jhaveri is a second-generation entrepreneur and Managing Director of Badshah Masala.

“My father would collect tin cans used to sell cigarettes. He then cleaned them, peeled off the labels, and would package the masalas in them. Riding on his bicycle, he would sell them in nearby areas,” Hemant says.
Jawaharlal Jamnadas then set up a small unit in Ghatkopar, a suburb in Mumbai. It did not take much longer to upgrade to a large scale of 6000 sq. ft factory in Umbergaon in Gujarat. Then, the company extended, and it started offering pav bhaji masala, chat masala, and chana masala.
“I had joined the business in 1994 right after college and had acquired business skills from my father. I was 23 years old when he passed away, but I was determined to take his legacy forward,” Hemant says.
Badshah Masala Pvt. Ltd. has set a new standard for spices in the world's spice arena. It has been formulating new flavors and aromas through its innovative and unique research techniques.
Today Badshah is the winner of many prestigious awards including the "Mera Brand Award". Now in many households across India Badshah is the first choice and emerging as a global player. Badshah has carved a niche of its own in the international spice market with a third of its sales accounting in exports. Starting as a small business, it has become a large company and its turnover is Rs. 154 crores in FY 20-21.”

Preamble & the Constitution
As per Hindu mythology the body is the sum of all the elements and the soul is eternal or immortal, so to take an analogy from this if constitution is the body the preamble is certainly the spirit or soul behind the same.

Prof. K J George Associate Professor, Vijaybhoomi University
“We the people”, is the way the “Preamble” of the Indian Constitution starts, the same was inspired by the Preamble of the United States of America. What is incredible is the fact that USA adopted this in the year 1787 which is exactly 160 years before Indian got its independence, after more than a decade and a half these three words had the same significance and it still hold the same value. This shows that “We the people”, has survived the test of time. What more evidence do we need about the longevity of this term than the fact that Ireland used the same in “1937”, Japan incorporated the same in “1947”, the French said, “The French people” which was an initiation defined by the “Declaration” made as early as “1789”.
Thus, it is very clear that all Nations which wanted to safeguard and protect its “Citizen” talked about its people in the preamble.
This means the “Preamble” and the “Constitution” even today safeguards the individual’s freedom, it has given a wider meaning to “Political Democracy” as not just being one man one vote but to ensure that, the mentioned human being is having the right to be treated justly with regards to his social, economic well-being. In India where the language and culture change every 50-100 kms it was important that the “People” had the liberty to follow their faith, belief, or religion. There was always the struggle between the “People” with regards to the haves and the have nots, the Constitution ensured that each citizen would get equal opportunities. It may be argued that inequality is still prevalent in our Country, but the flip side is because the constitution talks about “Equality of Status” over the last 75 years it has encouraged “The People” to work towards their development and social and economic status.
To conclude 395 articles, 8 schedules, and a preamble which took six months for Mr. Prem Behari Narain Raizada (Saxena) to write, the beauty is even today it is as relevant as it was when it was written or envisaged.

A case study on 3 Idiots
Academics are fun here at VU. And this statement only got right when two students, Dixit and Aswini, wrote a case study. Dr. Nagendra, Dean of JAGSoM got struck with an idea to write a case on the movie "3 Idiots". Our two Business students showed their interest to be a part of it. They started with watching the movie and noting down the key moments from it. Then, they put their creative side to work, when they were coming up with a plotline for the case study.

After continuous hours of effort, the final copy was prepared, and Dr. Nagendra approved it. Throughout the writing, Sir was guiding the students. The cover design was left at the hands of Prof. Pravin Mishra, and with the design and the content combined, the output was liked by everyone. They completed the case study in 2 days. On the 3rd day, the soft-copy of the fully-furnished case study was sent out to the University and prominent professors.
On the 14th January, Mr. Sharman Joshi, aka Raju Rastogi, was invited for an online webinar to discuss on the key learnings and dilemmas from the movie. The attendees included principals from top schools, academic counselors, and leading educators. Some shared their story of following their passion, while some recalled sweet college memories. Sharman Joshi enjoyed his time while he was chatting and sharing his stories with the audience. This webinar lasted for more than 2 hours, and most of the attendees were satisfied, leaving a positive feedback.

Beginning of a new season
On the 14th like everyone else in India even the students at Vijaybhoomi celebrated the festival of Lohri and Makar Sankranti. Lohri commemorates the passing of Winter Solstice and is considered auspicious as it signifies a fresh start.
They celebrated the festival the good old-fashioned way with a traditional bonfire, peanuts, guru ki rewari, and foxnuts(makhana) and of course some good music. A spirit of new beginnings and prosperity filled the atmosphere. The warmth spread by the bonfire filled hearts with hope and overall, the festival spread joyous and peaceful vibes.

Unlocking the Lockdown |

Our readers share their silver lining from the COVID – 19 related lockdowns and restrictions:

Discoverying the chef in me!

Arun Jaiswal, Businessman, Uttar Pradesh
“Thirty days into the lockdown and I was discovering things about myself. It is not a coming-to-terms so much as a revelation. I was not aware of my talent.
During the lockdown, I learned about my cooking skills when my wife fell sick, and I had to cook. I was nervous about how the food would turn out. I took a spatula in one hand, phone in the other, and started cooking by following recipes on YouTube. To my surprise, the food turned out well and was quite delicious, though the kitchen got a little dirty. If it weren’t for this lockdown, I wouldn’t be able to discover my hidden talent for cooking. Now I cook new and unique dishes for my wife at least once a week.”

How does the liberal framework work in the Vijaybhoomi University?
Ayush Kumar, 12th Science, Narayana
The first two years at Vijaybhoomi University are discovery years wherein students will be permitted to choose, and experience levels 1 and 2 courses offered across different baskets of the various schools of the University. The objective of the discovery years would be to facilitate exploration of different areas of one’s interest aligned with the multiple intelligence framework. This will also unfold the inherent strength of an individual out of the eight multiple intelligence dimensions.
The journey in the initial 2 years in the undergraduate programme is expected to ignite the mind of our students and help them discover their purpose in life. The journey will be anchored by experienced professionals/entrepreneurs to mentor and coach the student as they traverse across these two years.
The discovery of purpose and alignment of the same to one’s aspiration is designed to help each student identify one’s unique learning pathway and the credentials to be earned for a purposeful and meaningful career in future. The liberal framework of this unique curriculum design will assist a student in choosing appropriate courses and interventions to meet one’s life and career aspirations.
