Sonia Thiyam, Fashion and Beauty Blogger

Sonia won the south zone competition, which was the start of it all. After finishing her MBBS, she began blogging as a full-time career. She spent over a year devoting all her time and energy to developing content without a single dime. After a ye earning ar, she started receiving smaller jobs that kept her motivated and encouraged her to strive harder toward her ambitions! For Sonia Thiyam, there has been no turning back since. She worked as a full-time blogger and part-time as a doctor.

Sonia did not have an easy time achieving success. She had to go against her family's expectations when it came to her work, and as the eldest in the family, she was under a lot of pressure. Despite the difficulties, Sonia has worked hard to get to where she is now. In spite her financial difficulties, she decided to hire a photographer since she understood that quality photographs were crucial to her blogging profession.

Eventually, numerous brands recognized and appreciated her fashion curation and content. They wanted her on board for projects and campaigns. Sonia's approach to fashion is creative, simplistic, and centered on comfort with a refined sense of style. Her incredible fashion sense is evident in her Instagram images.

Sonia Thiyam feels that it is important to pay attention to and be inspired by the smallest aspects in one's surroundings. Sonia's employment is a work of art for her; she doesn't do it for the fame; she does it to create an impact.

Sonia Thiyam has now built a hefty fan following of around 303k followers on Instagram, working in fashion full-time. She has also worked with famous brands such as Balmain. Sonia wants to encourage young people to follow their dreams no matter what challenges they face. She firmly believes that one should love what they're doing and make sure to live their dreams!

Work Based Learning Degrees – Need of the Hour

Work-based degrees are an effective way of upskilling employees and developing their skillset. Employees can work towards a qualification, while studying primarily in a workplace and earning a wage.

Employers can benefit from staff retention and investing in their workforce, improving the confidence and skills of their staff. Our courses are designed in partnership with industry to ensure that they fit the needs of both the students and their employers.

Dr. Santosh Shriram Sonavane, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Vijaybhoomi University

The Degrees designed with Work-based learning consists of structured opportunities for learning and is achieved through authentic activity and is supervised in the workplace. The Work-based learning is delivered through a meaningful partnership between students, employers, and the education organisation.

Work integrated learning makes Higher Education meaningful for students by personalising their learning, enhancing their awareness of the work relationship, enhancing work-related learning, and encouraging personal aspiration.

Work-based learning experiences provide the opportunity to strengthen six key soft skill areas - communication, enthusiasm and attitude, teamwork, networking, problem solving and critical thinking, and professionalism. These types of skills provide a competitive advantage for achieving career goals.

Apprenticeships (formal and informal), internships/traineeships and on-the-job training are the most common types of work-based learning. These types usually – but not always – combine elements of learning in the workplace with classroom-based learning.

Work integrated learning allows the student to not only hone their technical and academic skills but it will also help the student to practice and improve their various soft skills. This will allow students to not only be technically competent, but they will also be able to have good leadership and communication skills.

Christmas Panorama

Christmas - the season of love, joy, laughter and cheer… the season of happiness and peace!

The 2 days of the Christmas Panorama held on campus at VU were filled with loads of fun, energy & excitement. Two days of music marathons with 28 acoustic live performances on day 1 and 25 Live Band performances on day 2.

Besides live music, 10 talented young individuals fought their fears and participated in the VU King & Queen competition which was something different. The entire amphitheater area was lit up with wonderful festive lights setting up the mood for the festive season. Student led game stalls kept everyone excited throughout and on their toes. Live food counters kept everyone’s tummies satisfied with quality and tasty meals. Santa Claus paid us a visit and showered everyone with his blessings and sweets. To end the show, A live DJ set kept everyone dancing to contemporary house and techno tunes!!

This student council led Xmas Panorama was the biggest event held here on campus. Clocking in a total of 10 hours combined, every single minute was filled with fun, excitement, and cheer!!

The Xmas panorama was such a gala event.!! What made it special was that every school of VU had a part to play in making this event a success. From organizing to participation, students from all schools were involved in ensuring its smooth flow. Given its success, we do hope to host many more events like this soon.

What a way to end the year!!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

‘Feels Great!’

“As life felt closed it was great to experience actual normal things back again. As a music student at VU in True School of Music I’ve started valuing more to the learning process, being on campus interacting with fellow students and teachers and socializing in general.

It feels great performing live with such talented musicians at events and gigs, it felt alive again as an artist. It was little challenging but fun to give the live exams and getting feedback from the tutors. I want to utilize this and looking forward for more opportunities and growth in my skills.”
