Dr. Kumar Sargam

Dr Kumar Sargam is an accomplished academician, singer, music composer, lyricist, and researcher in Hindustani classical music, and a Banaras Gharana classical vocalist holding an M.Mus-PhD from Banaras Hindu University. He is an active blog writer and the author of two books, with over 25 research papers published in reputed journals and edited volumes.

Throughout his academic career, Dr. Sargam has successfully guided three PhD scholars, with four more currently pursuing their research under his supervision. His interdisciplinary work spans music, theatre, and cultural studies, supported by ongoing research projects in Indian classical music, ethnomusicology, and music composition.

He recently served as the Head of the Department of Theatre & Music at Lovely Professional University, where he led BA/BPA/MPA and PhD programs in Music and Theatre, coordinated major institutional events, and advanced key initiatives in curriculum development, pedagogy, and experiential learning in the Creative Arts.
