
Brig Sandeep Mohla (Retd)
Brig Sandeep Mohla, Sena Medal (Gallantry), is a dedicated, responsible, and innovative professional with over 36 years of distinguished service in the Indian Army, including extensive experience in active operations in Jammu & Kashmir and the North East of India.
Having graduated from the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, Pune in 1988, he completed his military training at the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun in 1989. Post commissioning, he joined the 14th Battalion of the Punjab Regiment (Infantry) in 1989 and was deployed on the Line of Control in J&K for over three years, where he managed operations and logistics during live combat.
He successfully commanded an Infantry Battalion of over 1000 personnel in active counter-insurgency operations from 2006 to 2010. As Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of 10 Sector Assam Rifles in Manipur, he commanded a brigade-sized force of 5000 personnel in one of the most challenging insurgency-affected regions in North East India.
An alumnus of the prestigious Defence Services Staff College (DSSC), Wellington (2001 batch), he earned a Master of Science degree from the University of Madras. He later completed a Master of Management Studies from Osmania University, Hyderabad as part of the Higher Defence Management Course-7 at the College of Defence Management (CDM), Secunderabad in 2012. During his tenure at CDM, he served as a faculty member for four years, teaching Strategic Management of National Security and Organisational Behaviour. He also completed a Master of Philosophy in Business Management from Osmania University.
He has extensive exposure to strategic planning, business management, academia, and collaborations with leading institutions such as IIM Lucknow and IIM Indore through Management Development Programmes.
During his service, he has been honoured with several prestigious awards, including the Sena Medal (Gallantry) for his exemplary courage during counter-insurgency operations in Manipur in 2000. He has also received the Vice Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card (2004), Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card (2007), and Chairman Chiefs of Staff Committee Commendation Card (2015), reflecting his professional excellence and dedication.
Brig Sandeep Mohla is a qualified Assessor (Psychology) for officer selection in the Armed Forces, trained by the Defence Institute of Psychological Research (DIPR), DRDO. He headed a Services Selection Board (SSB) from 2022 to 2025, where he personally interviewed over 2000 candidates, contributing significantly to leadership assessment and personality development.
He brings a strong blend of academic expertise, leadership experience, and administrative excellence, with a proven ability to identify and nurture talent while driving organisational goals effectively.
