For Not For 2024 - International Interschool Debate Competition

FOR NOT FOR 2024, an International Interschool Debate Competition, inspires youth to explore, question, and engage in discussions on global issues. Vijaybhoomi University, India’s First Liberal Professional University, proudly hosted its fifth edition, building on the immense success of the previous four.

The event witnessed participation from over 50 teams representing top International and CBSE schools across cities like Delhi, Delhi, Jaipur, Mumbai, Kolkata, Kolhapur, Thiruvananthapuram, Chennai, Noida, and Pilani, showcasing a rich diversity of perspectives and eloquence. 

This landmark event provided a platform for up-and-coming debaters to exchange ideas, display critical thinking skills and exhibit expectation oratory skills. The semi-finals and finals were highly competitive with 30+ finalists exhibiting their skills, with help from their avid supporters. 

The competition culminated in outstanding performances by the students, with Cambridge Court World School, Jaipur taking home the Winner’s title by Nancy Uppal and Bhavini Khandelwal from the Senior category and Saanvi Prakash and Meemansa Jaiman from the Junior category. 

The winners were awarded with an amount of ₹85,000, and the runners-up with an amount of ₹45,000 in both the senior and junior categories respectively, by Dr. A Parasuraman, Pro Chancellor and Dr. Ravikesh Srivastava, Vice Chancellor of Vijaybhoomi University.

Empowering Students Through Interdisciplinary Learning for Future Careers

Vijaybhoomi University recently hosted a thought-provoking panel discussion and masterclass led by Pro-Chancellor Dr. A. Parasuraman, a globally renowned expert in service marketing and technology integration. Joined by Prof. Vinay Prabhakar, Dean of True School of Music,  Prof. Nitesh Kumar, Head of Vijaybhoomi School of Law and Vipin Jog, Head of the Centre for Continuous Learning & Engagement (CCLE), the session spotlighted the transformative power of interdisciplinary education.

Dr. Parasuraman emphasized how blending expertise across fields like engineering, music, design, law, and management fosters innovation, equipping students for a rapidly evolving job market. Vijaybhoomi University's interdisciplinary approach integrates diverse disciplines, encouraging students to think beyond silos, innovate, and develop a well-rounded skill set. This prepares them not just for specialized roles but for leadership in fields that demand versatility and adaptability.

What inspired you to specialize in Python programming? 

Python’s simplicity and versatility attracted me. It’s easy for beginners to learn, yet powerful enough for complex tasks like AI and web development. I wanted to teach something accessible and impactful.

How do you think Python stands out compared to other programming languages?  

Python has a clean syntax, making it beginner-friendly. It’s versatile, with applications in AI, data science, web development, and more. Plus, its vast library support gives it an edge.   

What are the top three fields where Python is making a significant impact today?  

Python shines in AI and machine learning, data analysis, and web development. Nowadays it's one of the most used branch and even students are seeing AI as a good career option. Further speaking ,  It’s also widely used in automation and robotics hence compitable and useful in today's world. 

How do you see Python evolving in the next five to ten years? 

Python will most likely dominate AI, big data, and automation. Its community is growing rapidly today, and updates will make it even more efficient for cutting-edge technologies.   

With the rise of AI and machine learning, how essential is Python for students aiming for a career in these fields?   

It’s crucial! Python is the most widely used language for AI and ML because of libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn. For students pursuing CSE or AI or any other technical field , Python is gonna be the saviour since its base for many huge projects and softwares. Also it's user friendly and easy to learn language, making it easy to understand and interpret. 

Can non-CS students also benefit from learning Python? If so, how? 
Absolutely! Python is great for automating tasks, analyzing data, and solving real-world problems in any field, from finance to biology. It helps building your problem solving skills and helps to tackle situations easily.

Harsha Bhogle, a trained chemical engineer, took an unconventional route to pursue his passion for cricket. Despite no professional cricketing background, his love for the game and natural flair for storytelling led him to redefine the role of a cricket commentator.
