Personal Branding – The Need of the Hour
Digital world has become an essential part of our life. For students, all digital platforms, whether it is networking websites like Facebook or Twitter or content websites like YouTube or Instagram or own blogs, all these platforms have become day to day part of not just their personal life, but also of their academic life.

Academic institutes, in India as well as abroad, while selecting students for their graduate and undergraduate students, and companies while selective candidates for various job roles, along with checking student on various quality parameters and their academic performance, also give high importance to their activities in digital social life. They want to see and understand what are all activities which a student does at these social media platforms. According to a study by Kaplan Study prep, online digital brand, which includes all digital activities by students, influence the decision making of admission managers. So, it is very important for students to present their best part on social media, create their personal brand using these online platforms and maintain that for long term. Each of these social media platforms has different purpose for its users. For example, Facebook is all about sharing what is happening in your personal or professional lives, however, LinkedIn is only for making business connections. Instagram is all about sharing soft side of life, fun and colour of life in terms of photographs or videos. YouTube is all about creating content, both personal and professional which is available to public to view, comment, or share. Essentially before starting to use all these platforms, students should understand the aim of these platforms so that they can get best out of these, to build their personal brand.
Personal branding, according to PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), is “what you’re known for and how people experience you. It’s about bringing who you are to what you do and how you do it.” For students, their personal branding is promoting their ideas, skills, knowledge, competencies and achievements among their network, universities, or future employers where they want to start their dream jobs. This involves presenting best part of you - your personality, communication, interpersonal skills, networking skills, your hobbies, passions. However, remember promotion is effective only if a product is of good quality and after sales services are also good. Similarly, it is critical to develop required behavioural, leadership and technical competencies; present them effectively on offline as well as online platforms; and then continuously strive to improve them. That is the only way to build a long term sustainable personal brand. As Rome was not build in a day, so for every person, it takes time to build personal brand, both in offline world as well as on social media.
At JAGSOM (Jagdish Sheth School of Management) which is part of Vijaybhoomi University, we focus and help students to discover their self; develop the advance management competencies with new age specialization like music, law, and data science; and help students to present their skills and competencies effectively to outer world with an aim to build their own personal brand which is effective and sustainable in long term. JAGSOM is only B-School in India which has both its campuses – Bangalore as well Karjat campus – AACSB accredited, which is a gold standard in management institutions across the world.

A Kho-Kho Game
This past week, with a lot of students going back home to recuperate and rejuvenate themselves for the next term, the students that stayed on campus were often bored. The students, having been separated by their peer group, spent most of their time inside their dorm rooms, or attending classes.
In order to lift the spirits of the students on campus, Aswini Patro, the student representative of sports in the student council decided to organize an interesting event that could induce a sense of cheer in the otherwise isolated campus. The student council members decided to organize a fun sporting event that would energize the student body while still being relaxing enough. After a bit of discussion, They decided on a fun afternoon of kho-kho.
Kho-kho is a game of Indian origin with a rich history. It is a team sport where two teams take turns chasing the other team members around the playing area. It is a sport that invigorates the body while still being fun and easy to play.
On the day of the event, the students who showed up early helped the student council set up the playing field. The sports faculty came as stand-ins for the timekeeper and umpire roles. First, there was a briefing of the rules for those who were new to the game and they held a practice match after splitting the students into two teams. After the practice matches, the real matches were held and the activity stretched on for more than 2 hours. Afterward, students were experiencing something akin to runner’s high, as they were exhausted but felt ecstatic.
After the event concluded, the sports faculty brought up the idea to host more events in a similar vein in the future and it was met with an overwhelmingly positive response.

Music sessions
Education is not a process that is bound solely to the classroom or to textbooks and examinations. To enrich the process of education, one must venture outside their field of study and interact with those from other fields or disciplines.
In order to aid that aspect of the education process, the faculty from TSM at VijayBhoomi University periodically hosts Music 101s, Workshops, masterclasses, and pro gigs in order to enhance the student's learning process.
In order to inform the students of what to expect in terms of co-curricular sessions, the TSM faculty hosted a session. There, they discussed the timetable of the co-curricular sessions for the next 8 weeks. This discussion then led to insight on each of the upcoming sessions and how to enroll for them. The session ended with a round of questions and doubts aimed at the faculty.

What is Vijaybhoomi Riding school?
|
|
|
|
Horseback-riding sports have been popular since ancient times.
For this reason, at the start of the year, we started a horse riding school, which comes under PEP activities and will make our university students different from others.
We've also given the horses names like Babu, Tufan, Kewali, and Veeru. Students who have chosen horseback riding as a PEP activity get up early in the morning and walk down to the ground to choose their favorite horse to ride.
Riding horses teaches responsibility to riders and even more so to people who care for horses. If horseback riding is your passion, you may enroll at this university to become a professional while earning your degree.
