Women have always been and still are responsible for the majority of the housework. This notion is so ingrained that on reading this, that we seldom question the statement- Why has it become stereotypical for women to pitch in more when it comes to chores? The unpaid work performed by women fundamentally alters their opportunities. Homemaking needs to be transformed into dignified labour, sitting in equal balance with office jobs. One way to address this issue is to attempt and assign value to unpaid work, but how do we go about doing that? That is exactly what we would be discussing in our latest Express with Ease episode on "Compensating Women for Household Chores" on the 27th of November at 5:00 PM. Due to the higher potential of vaccine manufacturing in India and the efforts made since the beginning, the speed of vaccination in India has been higher than in other countries. However, the large population makes the target of vaccinating the entire population is a bit distant. Subjects like patents and other intellectual property rights, the monopoly on technology and raw materials, trade secrets, etc., erect obstacles in the access to vaccines and medicines worldwide. What are some measures that could bring in vaccine equality? When can we look at a globally vaccinated population? We discuss this and more in our latest Express with Ease episode, "Universal Access to Vaccines and Medicines," on the 2nd of July at 5:00 PM.

Assessment practices in the education system need to evolve as real-world settings are changing. There is no ideal assessment practice given that the real-world conditions are marked by their uncertainties, changeability, and limitations. Educational assessment has been shifted to an online mode where possible and “high-stakes testing” such as board exams have either been canceled or postponed due to the raging pandemic. Keeping these tectonic shifts in mind, what would be the way forward for board exams? Are these 'summative assessments' going to change? Join us in our latest Express with Ease episode on the 11th of June at 5:00 PM.

Many great educators have said many great things about the importance of lifelong learning skills. John Dewey, however, probably said it best - "Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself." Educators want their learners to succeed both in and out of the classroom. But what is lifelong learning, and how can it help achieve goals? Let’s take a look at this concept of continuous education along with Ms. Kavita Sanghvi- Principal, Chatrabhuj Narsee Memorial School, Maharashtra. Teachers’ support of students, and the lasting effects of that support, are some of the most powerful factors in shaping a country’s future. Their work is as complex and challenging as it is critical. Each student brings a wide range of ever-evolving needs and strengths. Each school and district has an ever-shifting landscape of priorities, pressures, resources, and reforms. Amidst it all, how can we support those who help foster the future? How might we create a system to address children’s social and emotional struggles as a school community?

Ever since the World Health Organization announced that the COVID-19 outbreak was a pandemic, higher education institutions remain under pressure to deal with the disruption caused by the pandemic in the most appropriate way. One of the most challenging decisions facing education professionals today is to 're-open' study programs and student mobility. For now, there is no answer to the question of when; each institution will need to review mobility options based on established and emerging policies and parameters. To complete this picture, we need to get an insight into students’ perspectives. How have students experienced the disruption in their exchange programs? How do they visualize an institute during and post COVID?

Globalization and social media have made the world far more accessible than ever before. The world of today is one of 'VUCA' (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity). And the intuitive response is that the education we are providing for young people should, therefore, change radically. We are in a paradigm-shifting age, where technological, demographic, social, environmental, economic, and political shifts are forcing us to redefine what our educational structure should be.

2020 saw disruptions in the global education system like no other year in our living memory. COVID-19 created a plethora of problems but also brought in new opportunities and opened doors to innovation in the Education Sector. School leaders, school administrators, and teachers alike rose to the occasion and adapted to the need of the hour The silver lining is that, as a sector, we did not adhere to the 'dogmas of the past.' From technological advancements to hybrid schooling, what does the education sector hold for 2021? Is it time to roll out the NEP? Regardless of how committed teachers are or how good the learning outcomes, many schools are condemned to shut down as they cannot provide the right size of classrooms and resources in the dense, tightly packed communities they serve. The idea that we share a common history held together by a collective memory is at the source of the disposition we call patriotism. Nationalism, on the other hand, is the feeling that the culture and tradition of one nation are superior to any other. For students, is it more than celebrating particular days in school? Are you looking to change how you teach your students? Do you want to ensure that every student can succeed and get the most out of their education? While there are all kinds of ways to do this, creating a personalized learning experience can be a direct hit to accomplish just that. To get an idea of it, try to picture a classroom that doesn’t have a “one size fits all” approach to education. The teacher doesn’t lead all students through the same lessons. Instead, the teacher guides each student on an individualized journey. Sounds interesting? We are quick to expect children to adapt to their schools, but not expect schools to adapt to their students. For a school or classroom to work as a learning space for a child it has to be a good match with the child’s needs, as well as the child’s personality. Or one that attracts teachers who are knowledgeable, care about student learning and adapt their instruction to meet the needs of their learners?

There is some truth to every joke and an expression through every art. Censorship is a powerful tool that can work for or against society and the people. In many cases, it’s censorship in the unofficial sense. Comedy is brutal hard work. You know that silence that follows when a joke falls flat? And then there’s dealing with hecklers, too? Censoring art is the equivalent of censoring a person’s own mind, and preventing them to freely express themselves. Has censorship today gone too far way? Is it killing art and comedy? Where do we draw the line?

Among various measures to expand the provisions and realize Universal Elementary Education, the NEP 2020 recommendations include a child-centric approach. Lessons should be age-appropriate, scientifically accurate, and taught at every grade level. What is the role of teachers in its implementation? How can schools empirically support this?

Everywhere around the campus students could be seen preparing for the term-end examinations, making full use of the campus infrastructure (library, computer lab). Faculty worked with the students towards final revisions and preparations, and you could also see a certain camaraderie in the student group as they studied together and helped each other prepare for the term exams. While there was a seriousness and dedication in the mood as students worked hard for the examinations, the abundant nature and quiet on campus brought about calmness, and good teaching and learning through the term generated confidence. Students now step into and look forward to the second term of this academic year.

On the occasion of the 72nd Republic Day of India, students and faculty at Vijaybhoomi University gathered in the open-air amphitheater early morning to pay their respects to the Indian Tricolor and celebrate the coming into effect of our Constitution. There was patriotism in the air. The National Flag was unfurled and followed by recitation of the National Anthem. Thereafter, student Hashika Sachdeva (1st year, BE Artificial Intelligence) gave an inspiring speech on the importance of this day and the history of our nation, and all the chief guests shared their thoughts on the real meaning of Republic Day celebrations for modern India. \n The celebration reflected the true description of India as stated in the preamble of our Constitution – a Sovereign, Socialist, Secular, Democratic Republic – as students, faculty, administration and support staff, belonging to different states, religions and economic strata came together voluntarily as Indians to salute the national flag. \n Our flag looked really beautiful high in the air, waving in all its glory. I was full of pride for my country.- Dixit Soni, 1st year BBA student, Vijaybhoomi University \n Our Constitution serves as the guiding purpose, principles, and philosophy of the nation as a sovereign, socialist, secular and democratic republic. It secures justice, liberty, equality to all citizens of India and promotes fraternity amongst the people. Republic Day is an event to reiterate and preserve and strengthen this. As responsible citizens we must ensure that no section of the society loses faith in the rule of law, else we’re going to have a very dangerous society to live in. Republic Day celebrations at Vijaybhoomi was a great event to discuss all these to understand our responsibility and work towards strengthening the core values of our constitution - Professor Pravin Mishra, Dean, Vijaybhoomi School of Design
