With the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 having announced last year, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Union Budget 2021 made outlays for special projects to set the policy rolling. The government announced a Rs 38,572 crore budgetary allocation for its National Education Mission, up from the Rs 32,334 crore allocated last year. This mission consists of four central schemes aimed at literacy, universal elementary education, secondary school enhancement, and a centrally sponsored scheme on teacher education. Exam Week @ Vijaybhoomi



Last week at Vijaybhoomi was Exam Time. Everywhere around the campus students could be seen preparing for the term-end examinations, making full use of the campus infrastructure (library, computer lab). Faculty worked with the students towards final revisions and preparations, and you could also see a certain camaraderie in the student group as they studied together and helped each other prepare for the term exams. While there was a seriousness and dedication in the mood as students worked hard for the examinations, the abundant nature and quiet on campus brought about calmness, and good teaching and learning through the term generated confidence. Students now step into and look forward to the second term of this academic year.

Celebrating patriotism @ Republic Day



On the occasion of the 72nd Republic Day of India, students and faculty at Vijaybhoomi University gathered in the open-air amphitheater early morning to pay their respects to the Indian Tricolor and celebrate the coming into effect of our Constitution. There was patriotism in the air. The National Flag was unfurled and followed by recitation of the National Anthem. Thereafter, student Hashika Sachdeva (1st year, BE Artificial Intelligence) gave an inspiring speech on the importance of this day and the history of our nation, and all the chief guests shared their thoughts on the real meaning of Republic Day celebrations for modern India. \n The celebration reflected the true description of India as stated in the preamble of our Constitution – a Sovereign, Socialist, Secular, Democratic Republic – as students, faculty, administration and support staff, belonging to different states, religions and economic strata came together voluntarily as Indians to salute the national flag. \n Our flag looked really beautiful high in the air, waving in all its glory. I was full of pride for my country.- Dixit Soni, 1st year BBA student, Vijaybhoomi University \n Our Constitution serves as the guiding purpose, principles, and philosophy of the nation as a sovereign, socialist, secular and democratic republic. It secures justice, liberty, equality to all citizens of India and promotes fraternity amongst the people. Republic Day is an event to reiterate and preserve and strengthen this. As responsible citizens we must ensure that no section of the society loses faith in the rule of law, else we’re going to have a very dangerous society to live in. Spiritual Awakening @ Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti celebrations



Students and faculty at Vijaybhoomi University gathered on the eve of 20th January 2021, to commemorate Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti. Everyone vowed by the teachings of Shri Guru Gobind Singhji, namely, to be a warrior and a saint, believe in the power of love, be mindful of our speech, serve humanity, promote equality, and be humble. Shivansh Sahini, a student of BE - Artificial Intelligence, shared the life history and teachings of Guru Gobind Singhji, highlighting that he was born on 22 December 1666, was the tenth Sikh Guru, and a great spiritual master, warrior, poet, and philosopher. After the execution of his father, Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, he was formally installed as the leader of the Sikhs at the age of nine, becoming the tenth and the last Sikh Guru. He also founded the Sikh warrior community called Khalsa in 1699. After listening to the experiences and teachings of the beloved Guru, the gathering enjoyed the melodious Shabad – Waho Waho Gobind Singh. Swaijit, a student of BBA, interpreted and explained the Shabad to the gathering meaning Hail to the Guru. He is the Guru as well as the disciple. The program was concluded with delectable Kada Prasad - a traditional sweet usually distributed in Gurudwaras.

At 5:30pm on 15 January 2021, if you looked up at the skies around Vijaybhoomi University campus in Karjat, you would see the sky filled with kites. Kite flying is a popular ritual to celebrate the festival of Makar Sankranti, that marks the end of winters in India and welcomes spring and the new cropping season. Students at Vijaybhoomi University got together to fly kites in celebration of the festival, some acing the activity while others learning from their fellow students. I felt very happy celebrating Makar Sankranti by flying kites with my friends. This is a very big festival for us. Celebrating Bhogi, at the dawn



Early morning (before sunrise) on 13 January 2021, students and faculty at Vijaybhoomi lit a fire to celebrate the Bhogi festival. Traditionally, the festival is celebrated in the southern states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. It marks the first day of the four-day harvest festival called Pongal or Makar Sankranti. Students performed the ritual called ‘Bhogi Mantalu’ where people discard their old possessions such as furniture, clothes, and other household items into the fire as a means to eliminate the old and embrace new beginnings with positive energy I used to celebrate Bhogi with my cousins at home.
