India has begun to realise that our education is creating programmers and technical experts but not inventors and leaders in the field. In order to address this gap in education, several intellectuals have come up with liberal education training institutes such as Ashoka University, FLAME University, and Vijaybhoomi University.
With an aim to impact 1.5 lakhs students in higher education in India, Microsoft has collaborated with AICTE on the Future Ready Talent internship program, to gear students for jobs in emerging fields.Under this collaboration Microsoft will provide learning modules and certifications, skilling students on topics such as cloud computing, data science, AI and cyber security, “while AICTE will ensure that the internship curriculum is aligned to the National Education Policy, 2020,” informed the Chief Learning Officer Indrani Choudhury, Microsoft India.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued a letter for the prevention of caste-based discrimination in higher education institutions.After several reports of caste-based discrimination have surfaced against students and faculty members in some of the leading institutions like the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), the apex higher education regulator has urged the universities and colleges to prevent such incidents.
The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad has been adjudged as the best B-school in India, according to the QS World University Rankings 2022. The rankings were announced on the same day when IIM-A was also ranked as the best Indian MBA college by the national rankings NIRF. According to QS Business Masters Rankings 2022, Jagdish Sheth School of Management, Bengaluru ranked 101+ in business analytics and 151+ in finance.

Having spent a majority of her childhood singing in her church choir, Mumbai singer-songwriter Brecilla D’Souza – who goes by her first name – recalls having an affinity with the performing arts from an early age. Through her college years, her love for music grew tenfold while in 2018 the artist even received a one-year scholarship to study at the city-based True School of Music. She says, “It’s been a beautiful journey since then.”

Vijaybhoomi University (VU) has announced its partnership with Lithan, an accredited digital skills accelerator from Singapore, to launch an Apprenticeship pathway programme in BE Software Engineering. The partnership will extend opportunities to students to pursue a four-year programme in software engineering, which will include two years of formal education and two years of paid apprenticeship.
