Each sub-theme session will include a keynote presentation discussed with a supporting respondent expert, and audience participation. Participants will then be engaged with further presentations of evidence from academic practice, discussing concerns, findings from research and evaluations and reflecting on achievements. CDE appreciates that over the last year, rapid innovation in digital practice has challenged and even changed our perspectives in teaching and learning. To share experiences further we will close each sub-themed session with breakout room-style social networking opportunities.

Previously RIDE conferences have attracted a wide range of researchers and practitioners from Higher Education and this online format allows us to expand our boundaries and gain insights from around the world, promoting opportunities for collaboration.

Our keynote events include:

Professor Ellen Helsper, Department of Media and Communications at LSE, on digital inequalities.

Professor Neil Morris, Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Digital Transformation, University of Leeds on innovation in digital practice

Dr Linda Amrane-Cooper and Professors Stylianos Hatzipanagos and Alan Tait, CDE, on transition to online assessment.

The fourth lecture in The D’Arcy Lectures series, exploring the concept of Common Good through the three lenses of Aristotle’s philosophy, Catholic teaching, and contemporary political liberalism.

SYNOPSIS
‘Politics’ and ‘political’ are widely used as labels in speaking of social situations in which there is conflict. A more precise understanding of politics will be defended in which it appears as just one form of rule. Following Aristotle’s usage, it is argued that not all forms of rule of states are political in the full sense. This approach entails a challenge whether Catholic Social Thought can accommodate an adequate account of conflict.

This year’s D’Arcy Lectures are delivered by Revd Dr Patrick Riordan.
