BIOGRAPHY
Nilesh has served in various higher education leadership roles in India and abroad during the past 18 years. He leads programme and curriculum strategy, learning technology, quality assurance, institutional partnerships, regulatory compliance and new opportunities at The True School of Music. Nilesh spent 15 years in Malaysia, leading the design, delivery and quality assurance of undergraduate and TVET courses in music performance, music production, music business and sound engineering at the International College of Music (ICOM) in collaboration with the University of Westminster (UK), University of Wolverhampton (UK), University of Hertfordshire (UK) and Berklee College of Music, Boston. He has extensive experience in designing Occupational Standards and Outcome Based Learning models aligned to the Malaysian Qualifications Framework (MQF), the British QAA Framework and the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) of India. In 2018, Nilesh led the design and development of India’s first set of National Occupational Standards (NOS) and Qualification Packs in Music for the job roles of Music Programmer, Music Producer and Music Composer/Director aligned to the NSQF.
After gaining a first class degree in Electronics and a diploma in Sound Recording & Engineering, Nilesh started his career as a recording engineer adding numerous songs, commercials and soundtracks to his credit before stepping into academia. During his time abroad Nilesh furthered his education to earn a Master of Music Technology (MMusTech) degree with distinction from the University of Newcastle, Australia and remained active in the professional industry and mixed Front of House (FOH) sound and produced a number of live concerts. His professional and academic interests include live sound engineering, acoustics, digital audio, blended learning, learning technologies, and outcome and challenge based learning.
Nilesh is a Media and Entertainment Skills Council (India) certified Master Trainer for Sound Engineering, an Apple Distinguished Educator (ADE) recognised for the use of technology and innovation in music education, and an Avid Certified Instructor (ACI) for Pro Tools. He serves as the committee member representing South and South East Asia in the Popular Music Education Special Interest Group of the International Society of Music Educators (ISME).
